GM – Payroll

12-Month Fixed Term (with possible extension)

Location- Coomera- QLD

We are seeking an experienced payroll leader to oversee end-to-end payroll operations for our Southern Region. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery across a complex workforce.

Reporting to the Head of Payroll and leading a team of Payroll Officers, you will play a critical role in maintaining payroll integrity, strengthening controls and providing expert support on complex payroll matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for the Southern Region
  • Process and manage monthly salary and wage payrolls accurately and on time
  • Ensure full compliance with legislative requirements, Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • Act as the first point of escalation for complex payroll queries
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Payroll Officers
  • Prepare reconciliations and statutory payments including PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax
  • Produce accurate weekly and monthly payroll reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement across payroll systems, processes and controls
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

About You

  • Demonstrated experience managing full-function payroll in a complex environment
  • Proven experience overseeing large payrolls (1000+ employees) across multiple Awards/EBA’s
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Highly resilient with strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
  • Confident managing escalations and complex payroll matters
  • Advanced reporting and reconciliation capability
  • iChris system knowledge highly is essential
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
