Cloud Engineer - Azure
About the Role
We are on the hunt for a highly capable and motivated Cloud Engineer – Azure to lead the management and optimisation of our cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for the administration of Azure services, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Defender platforms, with a strong focus on platform consolidation, security, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and our Managed Service Provider to ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
What You Will Do
- Administer and manage Azure platform services, including IaaS and PaaS workloads, virtual networks, firewalls, storage, and compute resources.
- Manage and maintain Entra ID (Azure AD), including identity governance, conditional access, and role-based access control.
- Oversee and optimise Azure Site Recovery (ASR) and backup services to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Lead efforts to consolidate Azure subscriptions and tenants, improving manageability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and Defender for Endpoint, Identity, and Office 365.
- Monitor and manage Microsoft Defender security solutions across cloud and endpoint environments.
- Collaborate with the Managed Service Provider through regular meetings to review incidents, performance, and service improvements.
- Implement and maintain cloud governance policies, tagging standards, and cost management practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams on cloud-related projects and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and operational procedures.
What You Will Need
- 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering or systems administration with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure services, including virtual machines, networking, firewalls, storage, and PaaS offerings.
- Proven experience managing Entra ID / Azure AD, including identity and access management.
- Solid understanding of Azure Site Recovery, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience consolidating and managing multiple Azure subscriptions and tenants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration, including Intune and Defender.
- Familiarity with cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
