About the Role

Are you looking for a role where you can meaningfully contribute to the successful delivery of operations critical to sustaining a high quality of life for all Western Australians?

If so, we are currently recruiting for an Officer – Occupational Safety & Health to join a small team of experienced safety professionals, supporting regional operations throughout the South-West region.

You will be integral in helping to drive continual improvement in areas relating to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our teams whilst ensuring legislative and corporate requirements.

This role has a healthy mix of office/administrative and field-based activities. 

You will be required to travel throughout the region supporting our teams to meet their operational goals. This includes coaching and mentoring frontline leaders and field staff and acting as a first point of call for all WHS related matters. 

Due to the dynamic nature of our operations, there are times when you will need to respond quickly in challenging and changing environments. You will need the ability to stay composed under pressure and prioritise your tasks and workload to meet various demands and expectations.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in our Bunbury office.

 

The fundamentals of this role are:

  • Support the region in the management of hazard and incident data, including generating reports and performing analysis
  • Assist with the organisation and execution of health and wellbeing programs and initiatives.
  • Champion our regional safety committee and support our Health and Safety Representatives (HSR’s)
  • Assist teams on WHS aspects of work practices and procedures, through safety observations and site inspections.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Emergency Planning Committee and associated actions.
  • Support teams performing audits and incident investigations
  • Support the OSH Team Leader and OSH Coordinator

Key skills and experience:

  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Safety and Health or a related business discipline, combined with relevant experience in a large, multidisciplinary organisation.
  • Experience with Sentinel or any electronic OSH management platform (desirable)
  • Valid WA ‘C’ class driver’s license – as you will be required to travel within the region.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite at an intermediate level
  • Exposure to high-risk operations (confined space, working at heights, hazardous chemicals) (desirable)
