About the role
We are seeking Senior Analyst – Spatial Data to lead and provide technical expertise in spatial data management and data services. The role will provide technical expertise and support in geospatial data, enabling best-practice mapping and visualisation solutions that support business decisions and outcomes.
What the role will involve
In this role, you will:
- Lead spatial data management and the open data strategy to meet the evolving data needs of the business, it’s stakeholders and collaborating partners.
- Provide advice and training on the use of spatial data, metadata, data standards and workflows to business units, capital projects and external partners
- Source, capture, analyse and provide relevant spatial data using corporate systems and specialist applications to create location information to support better decision making within the corporation
- Lead the development and implementation of standards and procedures involved in the management of spatial data of all formats (including raster, vector, and metadata)
- Support and mentor team members in the maintenance of spatial data and associated process automation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of spatial data processes and best practices.
Key skills and experience
To be successful, you will bring:
- A degree in Geographical Information Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in geospatial information management and data governance.
- Considerable experience with data extract, transformation and load (ETL) processes and data management products including FME, SQL, python or similar tools
- Substantial knowledge and skills in the use of geographic information systems and data management products (ESRI ArcGIS/Enterprise, FME, GE Smallworld)
- Proficient with geospatial APIs, web mapping services and database environments
- Ability to train and assist team members and stakeholders in using geospatial tools and data
- Experience in developing and maintaining documentation for data processes, data definitions, and metadata.
- Have robust analytical skills, with experience in the management, manipulation, analysis and presentation of spatial data.
- Knowledge of cloud-based geospatial technologies and services
- High levels of personal responsibility and accountability with a strong focus on governance and standards
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills to work autonomously, and as part of a team, and a genuine interest in innovation, continual learning and improvement.
- Proven organisational and planning skills including ability to cooperate with others to achieve timeframes
