About the role

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and governance of enterprise digital workplace and security solutions across the Corporation. This role is critical in ensuring business requirements are translated into secure, scalable, and well‑governed technology solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards, principles and roadmaps.

Working closely with delivery teams, enterprise architects and senior stakeholders, you will help shape solution direction across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, collaboration platforms and identity/security controls, while contributing to long‑term architectural strategy and governance.

What the role will involve

  • Contribute to the design of end‑to‑end digital workplace and security solutions by translating business requirements into effective system and technical architectures.
  • Work closely with project delivery teams to define solution vision, scope and architectural requirements.
  • Perform solution options analysis and recommend fit‑for‑purpose architectures that balance business outcomes, security, cost and long‑term sustainability.
  • Ensure all solution designs align with enterprise architecture standards, principles and roadmaps.
  • Assess and clearly communicate the architectural impact of new solutions during requirements and design phases.
  • Provide architectural oversight for Microsoft 365 E5 platforms, including Defender, Purview (DLP, sensitivity labels), Conditional Access, and PAM/PIM, ensuring secure-by-default collaboration and compliance.
  • Lead architectural patterns for Microsoft Intune and SCCM co‑management, ensuring strong device hygiene, compliance and lifecycle management.
  • Design and govern collaboration platforms including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, enabling secure collaboration, data protection and controlled external sharing.
  • Support the secure adoption of new technologies and capabilities, including Windows 11 upgrades and Microsoft Copilot readiness.
  • Support alignment with cybersecurity frameworks and controls, including Australian Signals Directorate Essential Eight.
  • Engage with architecture governance forums and contribute to solution reviews, providing expert guidance to inform and sanction architectural decisions.
  • Communicate solution architectures clearly to business stakeholders, development teams and architectural review forums.
  • Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups and support solutions through architecture review and approval processes.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic program architectures, project portfolio architectures and technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects to evolve architecture standards, principles, guidelines and reference architectures.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements or innovations where appropriate.
  • Maintain solution artefacts within the architecture repository in collaboration with architecture governance teams.

Key skills and experience

Mandatory skills & experience:

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Intune MDM and SCCM co‑management in an enterprise environment.
  • Deep working knowledge of Microsoft 365 E5, including advanced security, compliance and identity capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience implementing data protection and governance solutions (e.g. DLP, Microsoft Purview).
  • Strong experience with identity and access security, including Azure AD Conditional Access and PAM/PIM.
  • Proven ability to design and govern Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive with robust data governance and external sharing controls.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL and SAFe.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

Desirable skills & experience - The following skills and experience are not essential but will be highly regarded:

  • Experience with zero‑touch device deployment and full asset lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of Zero Trust architecture and Essential Eight controls, including Microsoft Defender security tooling.
  • Familiarity with enterprise IP telephony, including Microsoft Teams Calling and/or Cisco CUCM.
  • Experience designing cloud-native solutions (Azure and/or AWS) and integrating DevSecOps practices into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as Microsoft Hyper‑V, VDI and AWS WorkSpaces.
  • Experience managing platform lifecycle in an agile delivery environment (e.g. major Windows upgrades or new platform rollouts).
  • Relevant security certifications, such as:

v Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (MCAE)

v Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC‑200)

v Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Security Administrator Associate (MS‑500)
