The world is changing and as we work towards a more sustainable future every day, our teams work to create innovative solutions and help deliver and manage water across our state. We invite you to join one of our committed teams and thrive as you collaborate with bright minds while shaping WA’s water future.

About the role

Western Australia’s rapidly drying climate, growing population and increased commercial water demand mean Perth’s Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS) is expected to experience supply challenges.

To support the delivery of critical outcomes to ensure the continued reliability of our drinking water supply, we are expanding our team.

As part of this investment, we are recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Groundwater who will play a key role in developing and implementing groundwater solutions to help safeguard IWSS water security.

As a member of the Groundwater Engineering team, you will be required to provide engineering support to review and optimise system hydraulics and bore pumps selection, identify and procure bore critical spares, and undertake Asset Deficiency Register and project investigations to improve asset reliability and source security.

This position is offered as a full-time, 12‑month fixed-term opportunity based at our Osborne Park office.

What You Will Do

When unplanned asset failures occur, you will support the Operations and Maintenance team by providing rapid engineering expertise to minimise production losses and support the safe return of assets to service while ensuring drinking water quality standards are maintained.

This includes identifying and implementing safe process workarounds, offering technical guidance on response and corrective actions, and assisting with the evaluation and sourcing of critical spare parts by liaising with manufacturers and freight providers.

In addition, you will ensure maintenance records and documentation are accurate and appropriate for ongoing operational needs.

About you

You are an effective communicator who can work confidently with operators, maintenance teams, engineers and stakeholders.

You hold a current driver’s licence and are comfortable travelling between multiple metropolitan sites as part of your regular duties.

You enjoy a balance of field and office work, spending roughly 50% of your time on site supporting operations and 50% on planning, analysis and problem‑solving.

You are also proficient in, or keen to develop capability with, key operational and corporate systems including SCADA, ADR, SAP, and the Water Quality Management System (WQMS).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree level qualification in a related engineering discipline, preference mechanical engineering.
  • Substantial professional engineering experience with water and/or wastewater related infrastructure assets and processes.
  • Substantial experience in delivering optimal engineering, business and financial outcomes.
