About the role

In this fixed term opportunity, you will be responsible for leading the development and effective implementation of the Cultural Heritage and Aboriginal engagement strategies for Water Corporation projects.

 

You’ll provide expert guidance to the project team and its contractors throughout the planning and construction phase to minimise risks to Heritage while maintaining relationships ensuring the efficient delivery of the project.

What you can expect to do in this role

  • You’ll be the centre for expertise in Aboriginal engagement, Heritage and Native Title working on the Future Water Source projects
  • Supporting the business, you’ll engage with Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal Corporations relating to sustainable water supply for communities across the state, including desalination plants
  • You’ll assess heritage training and cultural awareness needs for Water Corporation projects team and contractors, to ensure appropriate awareness and understanding of Aboriginal cultural and heritage matters and associated procedures as part of works
  • You’ll lead the engagement activities with Aboriginal communities associated with Aboriginal Heritage or Native Title Management
  • You’ll provide clear specialist service to future water source projects and activities

 

Your skills and experience:

There are a few things that we’ll look for in your CV:

  • This position relates to Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position
  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline such as Social Sciences, Environment or Archaeology
  • Considerable experience in Cultural Heritage management, Aboriginal community engagement, stakeholder management, including developing communication and community engagement material and strategies
  • Capacity to develop relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate effective Aboriginal engagement outcomes
  • Considerable experience working on large, complex construction projects
  • Considerable experience in the implementation of project management coordination and logistics
  • Demonstrated organisational and project management skills
  • Developed conceptual and analytical skills and able to exercise advanced influencing and negotiation skills
  • Current driver’s licence as you will be driving to regional community meetings
