About the role

As an Electrical Technical Advisor, you will act as the subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and support across electrical systems that support water and wastewater operations. You’ll work closely with maintenance teams, planners, and project teams to diagnose complex issues, improve asset performance, and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently. Your expertise will help guide decision-making on repairs, upgrades, and maintenance approaches.

In this role, you will also play a key part in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, as well as supporting projects from design through to commissioning. You’ll contribute to risk management, respond to incidents, and help build capability within teams through coaching and training. Your work ensures that critical electrical infrastructure is reliable, fit for purpose, and able to support essential water services to the community.

What you can expect with this role

  • Providing expert advice to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues
  • Supporting maintenance teams to improve asset performance and reliability
  • Reviewing designs and contributing to projects from planning to commissioning
  • Ensuring electrical systems meet safety, compliance, and regulatory standards
  • Responding to incidents and helping manage risks across operations
  • Coaching and supporting teams to build technical capability and knowledge

 

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

   

  • Electrical trade qualification with an Electrician’s Licence, or substantial equivalent experience (mandatory)
  • Strong experience in electrical maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting within infrastructure or industrial environments
  • Solid understanding of safety standards, compliance, and risk management in electrical systems
  • Proven ability to analyse faults, interpret technical drawings, and deliver practical solutions
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across operations, projects, and contractor teams
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and support others through coaching and guidance
