About the role 

Are you a recognised cloud technology leader with deep expertise across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services? We're We are looking for an experienced and strategic Principal Product Owner – Cyber Security to lead the vision, roadmap, and lifecycle management of our critical cyber security platforms and services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior cyber professional who combines strong product ownership capabilities with deep security expertise. You will play a key role in shaping the organisation's cyber security capabilities, ensuring our security platforms remain resilient, scalable, and aligned to business and technology strategy.

Working closely with security specialists, technology teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors, you will drive the evolution of our cyber security ecosystem, balancing risk management, operational excellence, and innovation.

What the role will involve: 

Cyber Security Product Strategy & Roadmap 

• Define and maintain the strategic vision, roadmap, and lifecycle plans for key cyber security platforms and services.
• Ensure cyber security products and capabilities align with business objectives, enterprise architecture, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify emerging cyber threats, industry trends, and technology opportunities to strengthen organisational resilience.
• Prioritise initiatives, enhancements, and investments based on business value, risk reduction, and stakeholder needs.

Product Ownership & Delivery

• Act as the Product Owner for cyber security platforms, ensuring successful delivery of new capabilities and continual service improvements.
• Oversee platform upgrades, integrations, enhancements, and retirement activities.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure security solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Champion Agile and DevOps practices that support efficient and effective delivery outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

• Serve as the key interface between cyber security teams, business units, technology teams, and vendors.
• Translate business and security requirements into platform capabilities and delivery roadmaps.
• Lead governance discussions and provide recommendations that support informed decision-making.
• Influence stakeholders across the organisation to embed security-by-design principles.

Operational Excellence

• Partner with operational and support teams to ensure cyber security platforms meet performance, availability, and security objectives.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators and service metrics.
• Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, and technology partners to maximise value and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across cyber security products and services.

Leadership & Capability Building

• Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to team members and stakeholders.
• Act as a subject matter expert within the Information Security Office.
• Contribute to developing cyber security capability, awareness, and best practice across the organisation.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture that supports innovation and continuous learning.

About you:

You are an experienced cyber security professional with a strong background in product ownership, platform management, and stakeholder engagement. You understand how to balance security requirements with business outcomes and have a passion for delivering technology solutions that strengthen organisational resilience.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Degree qualification in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Significant experience managing enterprise-scale cyber security platforms and services
• Demonstrated experience defining and maintaining product vision, strategy, roadmaps, and lifecycle plans
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions
• Strong experience delivering complex technology initiatives within large organisational environments

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of cyber security principles, frameworks, risk management, and governance practices
• Experience managing security technologies such as:
• Identity and Access Management (IAM)
• Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
• Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)
• Vulnerability Management
• Privileged Access Management (PAM)
• Cloud Security Platforms
• Security Monitoring and Response Services
• Understanding of cloud technologies, application platforms, infrastructure, APIs, and integration patterns
• Experience working within Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery environments
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills

Desirable

• Experience within utilities, critical infrastructure, government, or other highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks
• Product Management certification (Certified Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or similar)
• Cyber Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, SABSA, or equivalent
• Cloud platform certifications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
