About the role 

We have a permanent opportunity in the TaRR Central Scheme Operations Team as a Technician, with shift loading of 48.11% (of average ordinary hours).

This role will see you work as part of a 24/7 operational team that remotely monitors, operate, controls and optimise Ground and Surface Water Treatment processes and associated scheme assets to meet licenced standards and guidelines, production demands and to supply safe drinking water to our customers and the community.

What you can expect with this role

  • Remotely operate, monitor, adjust and optimise water treatment processes and assets to maintain water quality and quantity within parameters.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults using data, alarms and performance trends; initiate and escalate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate after‑hours rectifications, maintenance and call‑outs; generate and dispatch work orders; ensure fatigue and lone‑worker procedures are followed.
  • Liaise with Integrated Operations, field ops and WRR to optimise production, quality and distribution; monitor groundwater plants, minor schemes and after‑hours WRR alarms (Samson, Stirling).
  • Provide technical support and occasional manual/semi‑automatic operation and respond to incidents.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and procedures; contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices.

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Cert III (NWTP) in Water Industry Operations or willingness to complete while gaining experience in the role.
  • Experience in water treatment, process industry or control room or similar process industries
  • Competent across end‑to‑end treatment processes; strong problem‑solving and mechanical/process understanding.
  • Proficient with SCADA and SAP‑PM; strong computer literacy and data analysis skills.
  • Able to work independently on a 24x7, 12 hour shift rotation roster (including night shift) and ability to work with others to achieve outcomes and resolve issues.
  • Safety‑focused, customer‑oriented communicator with a positive attitude and commitment to a strong team culture.
