Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Thrive in a dynamic role as you shape WA’s water future.

We are looking for people who are inspired to find better solutions, so together we can shape WA’s water future. At Water Corporation, we pride ourselves on being more than just a workplace. Our community is made up of committed and energetic individuals who prioritise a healthy work-life balance and embrace a diverse and vibrant culture.

About the role

Our Aboriginal Communities Water Services (ACWS) program was established in July 2023 to manage the transition from the Department of Communities to Water Corporation for providing safe and reliable water services to remote Aboriginal communities.

This is a unique and deeply meaningful opportunity to be part of a program that supports Aboriginal communities while strengthening long‑term service outcomes across regional and remote WA.

As a Project Leader within the Operations Project Delivery Team, you will manage a diverse portfolio of minor capital works and operational projects that support water service delivery across remote Aboriginal communities.

You will be involved end‑to‑end across the project lifecycle, including initiation, design, contract documentation, tendering, construction, commissioning and handover.

Who are we?

When you join Water Corporation, you play an important role for the people of WA. Our services are essential for life - everyday, millions of Western Australians rely on us to deliver and manage water across our state.

If you’re driven to make a meaningful contribution, you’ve come to the right place.

Real benefits that matter

  • Real flexibility with options to work from home, flexible work hours
  • Two well-being days each year to do whatever you need to do to feel good
  • Access to long service leave pro rata after 3 years of service
  • Take advantage of our co-contribution superannuation scheme: Receive a 12% employer contribution and enjoy an additional 2% employer co-contribution when you elect to salary sacrifice 2%.
  • Purchase additional leave of up to 12 weeks or work 4 years at a reduced salary and take the fifth year off as paid leave
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave of up to 5 days so you can maintain your cultural connection and wellbeing.

What you can expect with this role

This role will involve:

  • Collaborating with our Quality Assurance Advisor, who will attend remote community visits whenever practical. The Project Lead will be expected to travel in instances where the QAA cannot attend or when particular projects require onsite scoping
  • Meeting with operations and our infrastructure team to understand delivery requirements
  • Engaging respectfully with community residents and leaders
  • Preparing project plans, business cases and tender documents
  • Collaborating with engineers, contractors and internal stakeholders to shape project outcomes

Your contribution will help us build strong, lasting relationships and ensure water services can be delivered safely and sustainably for generations to come.

Your skills and experience

We’re seeking someone with a background in project management, engineering, construction, or a relevant trade. Equally important is your ability to foster respectful relationships, communicate effectively across cultures, and manage delivery in remote environments.

Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

  • Reviewing scope and developing project delivery strategies
  • Tendering and contract award processes
  • Contract administration
  • Contractor and consultant management
  • Construction management, including quality, safety and site inspections
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building
  • Commissioning, handover, and close‑out of works

Experience working with Aboriginal communities or in remote settings is beneficial, and we welcome applicants with a positive mindset, respect, and willingness to learn.
