About the role

We have an exciting 16 month fixed term opportunity for a forward-thinking and technically accomplished professional to join Water Corporation as Principal – OT Systems Platforms. This key leadership role will see you driving the strategic direction, development, and integration of Operational Technology SCADA platform to support the performance and future readiness of WA’s essential water services.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Operational Data & Platforms, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our OT SCADA system platforms are innovative, robust and aligned with corporate and operational needs across the state.

What the role will involve

  • Lead the strategic planning, design and scoping of SCADA solution and associated asset investment proposals across Water Corporation.
  • Convert operational needs, strategies, and roadmaps into SCADA solutions by creating clear scope of works relating to the core SCADA platform as well as the dependencies to the control systems.
  • Oversee proof-of-concept testing, prototyping, commissioning, and embedding of OT SCADA solutions into business-as-usual operations.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify solutions that enhance performance, reduce risk, and futureproof the OT environment.
  • Provide specialist input into design reviews, tenders, and commissioning processes, ensuring functionality, compliance, and maintainability.
  • Develop and recommend OT SCADA system standards, tools for compliance testing, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with other business units including Engineering, Asset Planning, Operations, and IT Architecture to ensure alignment with broader system and asset strategies.
  • Guide and support operations teams in resolving OT SCADA problems or underperformance and recommending improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement through analysis, reporting, and stakeholder consultation.

Key skills and experience

  • A degree qualification in a relevant field with extensive experience in OT SCADA Systems design, implementation, and support. Particularly experienced in Schneider Geo SCADA environments.
  • Deep technical knowledge of OT system architecture, instrumentation control systems, and commissioning procedures within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical information for a range of audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a proactive and self-driven approach to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
