About the role
We’re seeking an experienced technology leader to step into the role of Principal - Product Owner - Modern Workplace & Infrastructure within the Information Technology Services team. This role will be accountable for the strategic vision, lifecycle management, and operational performance of key IT products and platforms across areas such as Cyber, AI, Data & Analytics, Digital, Cloud, Modern Workplace, and Infrastructure. Acting as a subject matter expert, you’ll ensure platforms remain aligned with Water Corporation’s business goals, technology strategy, and user needs.

What the role will involve
- Define and maintain the strategic vision and roadmap for assigned IT products/platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise and business goals.
- Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors for all platform-related matters.
- Oversee the delivery, upgrades, integrations, and lifecycle management of enterprise platforms.
- Champion Agile and DevOps practices, supporting continuous improvement in delivery and operations.
- Partner with operations and support teams to ensure stability, security, and performance of platforms.
- Monitor technology trends and recommend innovations to maintain platform relevance.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and capability-building across product and platform teams, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
Key skills and experience
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant technology discipline with substantial experience in IT operations, platform management, and service integration.
- Proven track record managing complex, enterprise-grade platforms and influencing outcomes with stakeholders.
- Strong product management experience – defining and maintaining product/platform vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Deep understanding of cloud, infrastructure, APIs, and/or application platforms.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD tools.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and deliver results.
(Desirable): Certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP, SAFe, ITIL, or Product Owner/Product Management credentials, and familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks.
