Water Corporation is recognised globally for our performance and innovation to secure water supplies for Western Australia in a changing climate. We’re driven to manage water services sustainably to make WA a great place to live and invest. A role at Water Corporation can unlock the door to ongoing long term career development opportunities; we also support training and development, flexible work arrangements, health and lifestyle programs and generous company benefits. If you share our commitment, then consider Water Corporation as the next step in your career.
About the role
Are you Interested in building something that WA households will use over the next few decades? Smart meters collect water usage data from water meters. These meters regularly transmit information that helps the people of WA track their water usage and detect if there are any leaks.
This is a smart way to help people save money on their water bills. Another advantage is customers won’t have someone trekking through their garden every 2 months to read their meter. We’re looking for someone like you to help us roll out a pilot project across the Perth metro area, creating a business case for the future of digital metering for households right across WA.
Real benefits that matter
- Real flexibility with options to work from home, 9-day fortnight, flexible work hours
- Two well-being days each year to do whatever you need to do to feel good
- Access to long service leave pro rata after 3 years of service
- Generous co-contribution superannuation up to 14%
- Purchase additional leave of up to 12 weeks or work 4 years at a reduced salary and take the fifth year off as paid leave

What the role will involve
As the Senior Project Manager for e2e detail metering, you’ll be pulling together a complex schedule of moving parts. Think about senior stakeholders, SMEs, contractors and vendors (roughly 23 people), and a $15m-$20m project, and you’ll get an idea of the size and scope. Working closely with the Program Manager for Digital Metering, you’ll oversee a multi-functional project team of SMEs and contractors to roll out a digital metering pilot project across the Perth metro area.
This involves those complex project management duties. Leading the scoping, procurement and deployment, and monitoring and forecasting project outcomes. You’ll also be evaluating the best way to remove roadblocks and lessen risks. Essentially, you’ll play a lead part in shaping a strategy that could expand from one pilot project to over one million households.
Ultimately, it’ll be your sharp eye for capturing and analysing data that’ll help us understand what the opportunities, challenges and clear benefits of installing these meters across WA are. You could play the lead part in helping us to shape the future operating state for metering at Water Corporation and for Western Australia.
You’ll have the opportunity to help us shape a business into a smart utility. This position is fixed term until June 2026, based on the outcome of your work, we might see digital metering and this role transitioning into BAU.
If you’re looking for purpose in your work? We’ll offer you that, too. Populations continue to grow. Climate change continues to affect rainfall. Your work will ensure the people of WA can continue to get access to clean, running water every day.
Key skills & experience
You’ll have a qualification in engineering, project management or a similar discipline. You’ll also have managed complex, cradle-to-grave projects where several vendors, SMEs and multi-disciplinary teams have delivered great outcomes. Ideally, you have an understanding of operational technology or other digital metering assets.
Apply: If you are interested in the above opportunity please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your ability to meet the requirements of the role.
Applications close Sunday 10th November 2024
