About the role
We are seeking a 9-month fixed term contract opportunity for an Analyst - Spatial Visualisation to join our Spatial Intelligence team within the Data & Analytics function. In this role, you will develop innovative GIS mapping and visualisation solutions, working closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality geospatial products that support strategic and operational decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity for a GIS professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, spatial analysis and creative visualisation to solve complex business challenges.
What role will involve
Reporting to the Manager – Spatial Solutions, you will:
- Develop spatial, cartographic and 3D visualisation products for print, web and presentation purposes.
- Deliver GIS mapping and visualisation solutions that enable informed decision-making across the business.
- Provide technical advice, guidance and support on geospatial information, mapping standards, GIS tools and applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective spatial solutions.
- Undertake spatial analysis and communicate findings through reports, presentations and visual outputs.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of geospatial mapping and visualisation standards, templates and best practices.
- Maintain spatial records, documentation and reporting requirements.
- Build strong relationships with internal customers, technical specialists and external stakeholders.
Key skills and experience:
You are a collaborative and technically capable GIS professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for creating impactful visualisations. You enjoy engaging with stakeholders, understanding business needs and delivering practical spatial solutions.
You will bring:
Essential qualifications and experience
- Degree qualification in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in geospatial information analysis and GIS applications.
- Considerable experience working with technologies such as:
- ESRI ArcGIS
- GE Smallworld
- FME
- CAD
- ERDAS Imagine
- Python
- Experience translating business requirements into technical and spatial solutions.
Key knowledge and skills
- Strong knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial data management.
- Experience in static and web mapping, cartography and visualisation within GIS platforms.
- Knowledge of spatial data formats and external spatial data sources.
- Understanding of GIS software capabilities, enhancements and emerging technologies.
- Experience working with imagery and image-editing software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability.
Desirable
- Experience working with spatial intelligence within the water industry or a similar asset-intensive environment.
- Knowledge of digital video and animation formats.
- Experience in 3D visualisation and related technologies.
