About the role
We have a permanent opportunity for a Senior Technical Advisor – Project Security to provide state-wide expert security advice to influence and ensure the effective translation of security and operational risks into project planning and delivery activities and processes to minimise the frequency and severity of incidents for the Water Corporation and maximise public safety. This position will be based in our Leederville office and will be reporting to the Manager- Asset Management Services.

What the role will involve
Asset Creation and Management
- Provide state-wide expert public safety and security advice to the Water Corporation major capital program stakeholders to ensure safe solutions are implemented in the design and delivery of projects.
- Analyse detailed design specifications to ensure the application of standards, Asset Requirements Baselines, commissioning, and handover are in-line with relevant WC, Australian and legislated standards.
- Provide SME input to public safety, security and critical infrastructure asset data and information improvement initiatives and ensure continuous review and improvement of quality processes and best practice design are fed into lessons learnt process.
- Collaborate with the Manager - Corporate Security to solve security problems, develop security standards and provide coordinated expert advice to Design Engineers and Asset Planners in the production of corporate risk-based public safety, security, and critical infrastructure design elements.
Consultancy
- Lead engagements with internal and external stakeholders to provide specialist security advice in relation to required infrastructure design for specified projects.
- Provide expert technical guidance for input to Engineering Design Standard DS62 and other relevant Corporation, public safety, critical infrastructure, and security standards, and provide SME advice for the development of standardised designs for site security.
- Undertake and lead specialist technical reviews of security equipment and systems, including site security inspections of the Corporation’s asset infrastructure, and create technical reports to advise Asset Managers on required security improvements.
- Provide expert security knowledge and technical guidance to Project Managers, Asset Manager, Design Managers, and Regions to ensure new assets meet relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and corporate and security standards.
Key skills and experience
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification OR tertiary level qualification in an relevant discipline
- Substantial relevant security industry experience in a large-scale organisation.
- Substantial experience in the provision of specialist security management and risk assessments within complex, large scale infrastructure.
- Current WAPOL Security Consultant Licence.
- Current Australian Drivers Licence, class “C”
Job Specific Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to apply standards and specifications (both internal and external)
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and plans and review them against defined objectives
- Understanding of Critical Infrastructure Protection and the Australian SOCI framework
- Clear understanding of security equipment and technologies (physical, electronic and surveillance) their installation, use and maintenance
- Undertake audits, reviews and verifications of installed equipment and provide expert technical advice.
- Proficient in the creation of technical reports.
