About the role

Looking for an opportunity to work on breathtaking Cocos (Keeling) Islands for a period of 1 year as an Electrical Dual Tradesperson. Join this close knit team of 15 on the Island made up of Electrical Tradespeople, Mechanics and Operators.

You will be based on Cocos (Keeling) West Island for the duration of this term. This role will provide electrical maintenance and instrumentation services for water, wastewater and power generation and distribution assets across 2 islands. The asset include a sea water reverse osmosis plant, vacuum sewerage system, wastewater treatment plant, diesel power station and HV/LV power distribution network. Given the remote locality of this position, your proven self-motivated and leadership qualities along with a demonstrated commitment to Occupational Safety and Health, will be essential requirements of this role.

What you can expect with this role

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and installs of electrical and instrumentation components within our water and electrical systems
  • Corrective and Preventative maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Parts and equipment procurement
  • Performs High Voltage switching
  • Performs tasks on PLC, and SCADA and instrumentation equipment
  • Support and develop others, including apprentice mentoring and coaching
  • Solving water industry and electrical challenges

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

  • Electrical Dual Trade Certificate (Instrumentation)
  • HV qualifications essential
  • Current Electrical Workers Licence
  • Considerable trade experience in power, water supply and/or wastewater utility services (or similar)
  • ACMA restricted cabling registration, desirable
