About the role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a talented Senior Advisor joining our Environmental Approvals & Delivery team based in Leederville. You’ll lead the delivery of environmental outcomes by providing expertise in environmental approvals under State and Commonwealth environmental legislation.

What the role will involve

  • Support the development and execute environmental management project strategy across the full project life cycle of Water Corporation assets
  • Provide advice and develop project documentation to successfully navigate State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and associated legal instruments, associated with desalination, water sourcing, pipelines, wastewater treatment and disposal within terrestrial and marine environments across Western Australia
  • Support the management of change for new environmental compliance obligations and legislation changes, including effective communication to stakeholders
  • Manage consultants to deliver Environmental Impact Assessment Studies to support securing environmental approvals within required timeframes
  • Support improvements to the EMS standards and procedures, to ensure the Corporation meets its environmental management objectives under Thrive 2035

About you

Are you a qualified environmental professional with a passion for sustainable water management? We’re seeking an experienced individual with a degree in environmental science (or a related field) to lead the delivery of project approvals, environmental impact assessments, and environmental management plans. Your understanding of state and commonwealth legislation, particularly Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the EPBC Act 1999 will be key in navigating complex regulatory landscapes.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key government stakeholders to support projects that align with our corporate objectives. Your ability to work independently and foster strong relationships across water corporation teams, contractors, and external partners, will play a vital role in shaping the future of Western Australia’s water industry. Knowledge of wastewater challenges and industry-specific issues will be highly regarded.
