Water is life. Every day, millions of Western Australians rely on the safe, reliable water services our people deliver. Behind those people sits the digital workplace technology that enables them to connect, collaborate and perform at their best.
We’re looking for a people-focused technology leader to manage our Modern Workplace team and deliver reliable platforms, responsive support and excellent customer service across the day-to-day digital workplace experience.
This is a practical platform management role. You’ll lead a team responsible for modern workplace platforms and services, manage day-to-day priorities and help make sure our people have the technology and support they need to do their jobs effectively.
As Manager Modern Workplace, you will manage the delivery, operation and lifecycle of our digital workplace platforms and services. You’ll work within the agreed technology direction and roadmap, helping ensure services remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose while supporting modern cloud, DevSecOps and Agile ways of working.
Just as importantly, you’ll help create a strong service culture within the team. You’ll make sure customers receive responsive and practical support, issues are owned through to resolution, and our people have a positive experience when they need help.
Working closely with product owners, architects, security teams, business stakeholders and technology partners, you’ll coordinate platform priorities, day-to-day service delivery and improvement activities. You’ll manage competing demands, contribute to platform planning and lifecycle decisions, oversee vendors and expenditure within your area, and ensure risks, compliance obligations and service issues are appropriately managed and escalated.
You’ll also work across the different teams involved in delivering workplace technology, helping make sure problems don’t get lost between teams and customers experience a joined-up service from beginning to end.
What makes this role different?
- Manage the digital workplace platforms and services that enable our people to connect, collaborate and work effectively.
- Create a strong customer service culture focused on ownership, responsiveness and getting things resolved.
- Deliver against agreed platform roadmaps and priorities.
- Balance day-to-day service delivery with platform maintenance, improvement and change.
- Combine people leadership with practical technical involvement.
- Work collaboratively with product owners, architects, security teams, business stakeholders and vendors.
- Develop the technical, professional and customer service capability of the team.
- Support cloud, DevSecOps and Agile ways of working.
- Maintain secure, reliable and well-managed services while continually looking for ways to make the experience better for our people.
- Take ownership of the things in between, helping connect teams and services so customers get the right outcome.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a practical, customer-focused people leader who enjoys getting things done and helping their team succeed.
You’ll bring experience working in technical, infrastructure or platform environments, ideally with experience leading or coordinating a technical team. You’ll understand the importance of reliable technology, good service management and excellent customer service, from resolving everyday issues through to coordinating more complex technical problems.
You’ll be comfortable managing day-to-day priorities and delivery backlogs, contributing to platform roadmaps and working with technical specialists when issues need deeper expertise. You’ll build good relationships with customers, stakeholders and technology partners and help make sure problems don’t get lost between teams.
You don’t need to have all the answers yourself. You do need to know how to bring the right people together, ask good questions, establish ownership and follow things through until there is an outcome for the customer.
You’ll also bring good stakeholder engagement, vendor management and financial awareness, together with an understanding of contemporary delivery practices and continuous improvement.
Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgement, a willingness to get involved and a genuine commitment to providing excellent customer service. You’ll understand that modern workplace technology isn’t simply about platforms and technology. It’s about making work easier, safer and more effective for the people who use it.
Experience with ITIL or IT service management, SAFe, or relevant platform administration certifications will be highly regarded.
