About the role:

We are seeking a highly capable Principal – Performance and Insights to lead the development of a modern, data-driven portfolio performance capability across Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT).

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of portfolio management by moving beyond traditional project reporting and establishing an insights-led approach that provides leaders with clear visibility of value delivery, portfolio health, risks, and outcomes. Working within the Portfolio Management Office, you will play a key role in the evolution of the PMO towards a Value Realisation Office (VRO), embedding performance and value-based decision-making across the organisation.

What the role will involve:

In this influential role, you will:

  • Lead the design and implementation of an enterprise portfolio performance and reporting framework focused on value delivery, delivery health, risk, flow, and predictability.
  • Establish a single source of truth for portfolio performance data by integrating information from agile delivery platforms, project management tools, and financial systems.
  • Develop executive-level dashboards and reporting that provide clear, concise, and actionable insights for senior leaders.
  • Translate complex portfolio data into meaningful insights, recommendations, and decision support for governance and investment forums.
  • Act as Product Owner for the portfolio performance and insights capability, partnering with transformation specialists and stakeholders to design metrics, data models, and reporting solutions aligned with the organisation's evolving IT operating model.
  • Lead the development of automated reporting and visualisation capabilities that improve data quality, accessibility, and timeliness of insights.
  • Drive the adoption of value measurement approaches, including benefits realisation, outcomes tracking, KPIs, and OKRs.
  • Support the transition from a traditional PMO to a Value Realisation Office by embedding outcome-focused reporting and performance management practices.
  • Build organisational capability in data literacy and insight-driven decision-making through coaching, tools, standards, and guidance.

Key skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in portfolio reporting, analytics, performance management, or business intelligence environments.
  • Strong experience developing executive dashboards, automated reporting solutions, and data visualisation capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into compelling insights and recommendations for senior leaders and executives.
  • Experience designing and embedding performance measurement frameworks, including KPIs, OKRs, benefits realisation, and value delivery metrics.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio governance, investment decision-making, and performance reporting.
  • Experience working across both Agile and traditional delivery environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience with reporting and visualisation tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications in Portfolio Management, Program Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting the transition from a PMO to a Value Realisation Office (VRO) or similar transformation.
  • Experience within utilities, infrastructure, government, or other asset-intensive industries.
