This Cloud DevOps Engineer works within a team of DevOps engineers responsible for the Vodafone AWS Cloud management and infrastructure as code framework. The DevOps team works closely with the broader Vodafone Domain teams to deliver business and technical capability in line with the Vodafone commercial and technology roadmap.

The DevOps Engineers are responsible for the AWS environment, including appropriate assessment and implementation of a wide range of AWS services and tools to support the deployment pipeline and the lifecycle of the internal and external customer-facing applications. You will have exposure to best-practice Cloud technologies to support security, high availability, and cost efficiency.

In addition to the Cloud native teams, you will have strong engagement with broader Vodafone Technology teams in IT and Networks, as well as some business stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Supporting and enhancing our AWS environments
  • Enhancing, maintaining and updating Vodafone’s CDK framework
  • Championing the implementation of build, deployment, test and release automation
  • Implementation and maintenance of new and existing CI CD pipelines
  • Continuously create, enhance and maintain tooling for automation
  • Identify and promote areas of improvement in processes and tooling
  • Delivering and contributing to infrastructure-as-code for both server-based and serverless micro-service architectures

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

  • Hands on experience with Infrastructure-As-Code tools to automate deployments in AWS, preferably CDK
  • Working knowledge of CloudFormation and at least one of the following (Java, Python, Ruby, Javascript, C#, C++), Java is preferred
  • Creating CI/CD pipelines in tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Puppet, Ansible, Packer etc
  • Willing to learn new technologies and skills
  • Worked in an agile environment
  • Good communicator
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative environment
  • Worked in a Containerised and/or Serverless environment
  • AWS Certification
  • Scripting in a linux environment
  • Created and/or maintained automation tools
  • Cloud Security experience
  • Building highly available, scalable and resilient platforms
  • Linux administrator
  • Knowledge on Direct Connect and firewalls configuration
  • Worked with Splunk or similar log analyser
