All new staff complete a three-month training and onboarding period in the office. This ensures they receive the right support, build relationships, and develop a strong understanding of VACCHO’s systems and ways of working.

Following this period, staff may request for working from home to be considered for up to two days per week for full-time staff and scaled back for 0.8 FTE and 0.6 FTE staff. This hybrid model allows us to stay collaborative and connected while also supporting our team to enjoy the benefits of flexibility and work–life balance.

Job Title: Project Officer, Beautiful Shawl Project

Location: Collingwood, VIC (Hybrid Work Model)

Employment Type: Full-time, Maximum-term (until June 2027)

Salary: $90,000-$95,000 per annum (plus super)

About the role

The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting key initiatives of the Screening and Early Detection program. This position will focus on the coordination of the Beautiful Shawl Project, a joint project with BreastScreen Victoria to work with ACCOs and Aboriginal led services to plan and deliver this empowering breast screening initiative with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The role will also include working with our Communications team to develop resources and messaging relevant to each event.

Travel will be required across the state to support our Members as needed when the Beautiful Shawl Project is being delivered, and to support the delivery of other projects as required.

Essential skills/experiences 

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated project experience, including the ability to identify barriers and provide solutions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce and Community members.
  • Demonstrated experience in a prevention, early intervention or ACCO sector roles.
  •  Demonstrated project management and stakeholder engagement skills
  •  Demonstrated proficiency and experience using Microsoft applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project Management) combined with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
