Do you enjoy collaborating with academics to support student learning experiences? Are you passionate about information literacy, digital learning and helping students develop the skills they need to succeed?

Join the University of Newcastle Library as an Education Services Librarian and play an important role in enhancing teaching and learning across the University. Working closely with academic staff, you'll provide advice on relevant course resources, develop innovative learning materials, and help embed information and digital literacy into the student learning experience.

Based at our vibrant Newcastle City (NUSpace) campus, this is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with academics while contributing to projects that shape the future of library services.

The Role

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with academic staff to integrate library and information literacy resources within teaching programs to support student success.
  • Assist with the creation and curation of course reading lists and provide advice on teaching-related copyright matters.
  • Develop and deliver instructional materials using a range of technologies.
  • Support the adoption of Open Educational Resources and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development of library collections that support current and emerging curriculum needs.
  • Promote Library services, resources and programs across the University community.

About you

You are a collaborative and proactive professional who enjoys building strong relationships across diverse academic disciplines and organisational areas. You understand how adults learn and are passionate about translating complex information into accessible, engaging and effective learning experiences that make a real difference to students.

You'll also bring:

  • Qualifications in Library and Information Science (or another relevant discipline with equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting learning and teaching in a library environment and an understanding of contemporary approaches to curriculum support in academic libraries.
  • Experience delivering information and digital literacy programs and an understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Experience developing learning resources and materials using a range of technologies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with academic and professional staff.
  • An interest in emerging technologies, digital literacy and evolving approaches to learning and teaching, including the use of AI in education.
  • Knowledge of legal research is desirable.

This continuing role is full time at a HEW 6 Higher Education Worker Level and is located at City Campus
