Base Salary: $116,596 - $136,060 plus 17% superannuation

The position

As the leader of the Reporting and Analysis Team, you will be responsible for identifying and conducting high-level analysis of relevant data sources, and effectively communicating insights to stakeholders to support decision-making across the organisation.

A key focus of this role is the coordination and delivery of high-quality reporting across all areas of management accounting. This includes monthly financial performance reporting, annual budgeting, and long-term financial planning.

The overarching objective is to provide reporting that is useful, meaningful, efficient, and representative - supporting informed management decisions and contributing to the successful delivery of the University of Newcastle’s Looking Ahead Strategic Plan and the Financial Services Business Plan.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards them, along with extensive relevant experience; or extensive relevant experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to design and deliver standardised financial management reporting in a medium to large organisation.
  • Demonstrated capability in providing enterprise-level commentary, analysis, and dashboard analytics to senior leaders.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of professional staff to achieve exceptional outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and foster interdisciplinary, collaborative working environments.
  • A sound understanding of workplace obligations and a demonstrated commitment to cultivating a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse, and respectful workplace. This includes the ability to respond appropriately to incidents, behaviours, and reports.

Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates who possess the following:

  • Attained or are working towards professional membership with CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ (ICAA).
  • Experience with TechnologyOne Financials, Microsoft Power BI, and SAS applications (or similar).
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence applications.
