The University of Newcastle stands as a global Top 200 University, committed to delivering an exceptional student experience, preparing graduates for life, and with a shared purpose to better our regions and the world. Our Looking Ahead Strategic Plan captures the spirit of looking to the future to imagine and then realise possibilities, enabled by the values of excellence, equity, engagement and sustainability.

Within the professional services portfolio of the university, the Directorate of Infrastructure and Facilities Services (IFS) supports and enables the University’s strategic objectives through the effective maintenance, management and development of physical campuses, providing a sustainable, safe and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors. The University continues to invest in state-of-the-art buildings, programs and services, as well as optimise existing facilities, to maximise teaching, learning, research and working experiences.

Reporting to the Director of IFS, a dynamic career opportunity exists for an Associate Director, Estate Strategy and Planning. As a senior member of IFS, the Associate Director provides leadership in the areas of Estate Strategy, Planning and Space Analytics. The Associate Director will lead the development and oversight of campus master plans and precinct plans, and the strategic planning, visioning and business case formulation of physical campuses and assets. The role will also involve developing strategies to rationalise and optimise the University's estate through managing the space planning and analytics functions. Providing effective project governance and developing business cases will also be required, as is stakeholder engagement, internally up to University Council level and externally with consultants and the community.

The University is seeking a strategic thinker and leader with proven experience in the development of workplace strategy and space optimisation aligned to activity-based working and in the development of diverse physical asset business cases. The ability to lead and manage, ideate, and engage, combined with a strong focus on delivering pragmatic solutions within a complex stakeholder environment, is essential.
