We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Manager, Safety, Governance, Quality and Systems to lead the strategic delivery of health, safety and wellbeing frameworks that protect and support our vibrant university community.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of robust health and safety strategies, policies, and governance systems. Your work will ensure a safe, compliant and supportive environment for our students, staff and visitors, aligned with the University’s Wellbeing, Health and Safety Strategy.

What you’ll do

  • Drive the successful delivery of strategic health and safety projects, balancing complex priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Oversee the health, safety and wellbeing governance framework, ensuring strong governance structures and accountability.
  • Develop, review, and enhance policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and best practice standards.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including students, professional staff, academics and subject matter experts.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to a small, high-performing team, fostering an environment of integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement.

About you

You’re an influential leader who thrives in complex environments. You bring a proactive and systems-oriented approach to governance, quality, and compliance, along with strong interpersonal skills that allow you to engage meaningfully across a broad range of stakeholders. You will also bring:

  • Demonstrated success in managing complex operations and delivering large-scale, strategic initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of legislative frameworks, compliance obligations, and governance systems.
  • The ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate effectively, and deliver results under pressure.
  • Experience in writing and implementing policies and procedures in a large, multifaceted organisation.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and navigate diverse working styles and perspectives.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 9 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus.

About the Unit  

This role sits within the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) team in the Human Resource Services (HRS) unit within the Resources Division. As a Senior Manager, you will lead the charge in implementing best practice governance frameworks, quality and health and safety management systems
