About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to help shape the future of music learning and inspire the next generation of creative professionals. In this teaching focused role, you will design and deliver high‑quality, innovative learning experiences that reflect the diverse and evolving career pathways available to today’s musicians, including opportunities at the intersection of music, wellbeing, and community impact. With up to 70% teaching and 20% pedagogy, you will contribute to one of our undergraduate programs, guiding students as they explore how to turn their passion into purpose-driven careers across performance, composition, education, and community arts. 

You will be part of a close‑knit team of performers, composers, and creative practitioners, collaborating to enrich the student experience and strengthen the impact of our programs. Alongside your teaching, you will contribute to research aligned with your expertise, engage across disciplines, and support external partnerships that broaden our community reach. Working within the School of Humanities, Creative Industries and Social Sciences, you will play an important role in advancing the University’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and social impact; within a supportive, inclusive, and forward‑looking academic community.

You are an established educator and creative practitioner with a strong grounding in your discipline and a passion for supporting the next generation of music students. You are committed to delivering high‑quality, contemporary teaching and enjoy designing engaging learning experiences that help students explore diverse and evolving career pathways. Reflective and open to feedback, you are eager to continue developing your skills in curriculum design, student support and innovative teaching practice. 

Collaborative by nature, you value working within an interdisciplinary team and contributing to a vibrant program environment. You are motivated by opportunities to build your academic profile through research or scholarly activity aligned with your expertise and are excited by work that connects music, wellbeing and community impact. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Completed a doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in a relevant discipline area and knowledge relevant to Music and Performing Arts or related area.
  • Demonstrated record of publication or non-traditional research output in high-quality outlets including evidence of national collaborations and/or partnerships relative to opportunity.
  • Significant contributions to teaching at a tertiary level in Music with demonstrated experience with the development and delivery of curriculum and course materials for a variety of teaching modes including online and flexible delivery.
