Our team of five Corporate Accountants are a high-performing group of qualified technical accountants who are well respected across the university for their responsive, timely and accurate reporting and advice. Together they undertake month-end and year-end functions as well as dealing with taxation and technical accounting queries from divisions, schools, and the University’s Controlled Entities.

 

In this role you will:

  • Assess accounting standards and determine the impact of changes.
  • Analyse large volumes of data to interpret trends.
  • Perform accounting transactions to support the management of the University and its controlled entities finance ledgers.

Direct and involved engagement with senior leadership will mean you are key to supporting the university to make key operating decisions. 

This fixed term position is a parental leave cover until until April ’25, is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land). 


How will you inspire us?

Your degree, and preferably a post-graduate qualification or progress towards qualification, will underpin your understanding of technical accounting in such an environment. Your curious and collaborative nature will allow success in this role, along with a willingness to support your team members to meet reporting deadlines. 

In addition, you will have:

  • Solid experience either in an accounting firm or within a large and complex organisation 
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills in exploration and research as you contribute to one-off projects.

 

What we offer

The remuneration for this position is from $99,655 to $112,112 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  1. Previous experience performing month end close procedures within a large organisation and preparing FBT and GST tax returns.
  2. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and a demonstrated deep knowledge of various IT systems.
  3. Experience applying accounting standards to new activities in a business context.
  4. Proven ability to operate independently with broad direction.
  5. The ability to manage and execute ad-hoc projects using project management skills.
  6. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to communicate technical matters to non-technical stakeholders.
