The Role 

As the Respectful University Prevention Specialist, you will lead the delivery of impactful prevention programs that embed a culture of safety, respect and inclusion across a diverse university community. 

In this role you will:  

  • Design, coordinate and evaluate evidence-informed, trauma-informed prevention education programs that address gender-based violence and promote respectful behaviours across the University 
  • Deliver engaging education and training and awareness activities to diverse cohorts including students, staff and leaders, tailored to different audiences and contexts 
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders, including those with lived experience, to co-design and enhance initiatives 
  • Lead and support a team of Peer Leader and Lived Experience Student Consultants, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and coordination 
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of awareness activities, campaigns and engagement initiatives that drive cultural change and prevent harm 
  • Contribute to reporting, policy development and compliance activities aligned with legislative and sector requirements, including the National Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence 

This 2-year fixed-term position is full-time at a Higher Education Worker level 8 and is based at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal Land) 


How will you inspire us? 

You are a relational and values-driven professional with a strong grasp of complex legislation and policy, who creates respectful environments and empowers others through their work. 

You will have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in the development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of primary prevention or education programs, and a demonstrated understanding of evidence informed, trauma informed practice 
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects or initiatives in a complex organisation, including responsibility for reporting, data collection and compliance activities. 
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in School/Division or University wide initiatives.   
  • Experience in the higher education sector or community services environment. (Desirable)
