About the Role

The Professor/Associate Professor (Research Fellow) - Prostate Cancer will provide strategic leadership in prostate cancer research within the University of Newcastle's College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established researcher to lead a program of clinically informed and translational research, advancing discoveries from research through to improved patient outcomes. Working closely with clinicians, health services, industry, and research partners, you will drive research excellence, attract competitive funding, and strengthen the University's national and international reputation in prostate cancer research.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the research area, fostering multidisciplinary collaborations, and supporting the development of higher degree research students, research fellows, and emerging researchers. You will also contribute to building strong partnerships with government, industry, and community stakeholders, ensuring research delivers meaningful impact.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A doctoral qualification and recognised expertise in prostate cancer research or a closely related field.
  • An outstanding record of high-quality and impactful research outputs, with evidence of national and international collaborations.
  • Demonstrated success in securing competitive research funding and leading major research initiatives.
  • A strong track record of supervising Higher Degree by Research candidates and mentoring early and mid-career researchers.
  • Experience building productive partnerships across academia, healthcare, government, industry, and community sectors.
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior academic or research role, including the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and contribute strategically to research growth and performance.
