If so, the University of Newcastle has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Student Living Support team as a Student Living Support Coordinator.

The Student Living Support team plays a crucial role in creating a safe, inclusive, and enriching residential experience for our students. As a Student Living Support Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of this mission, working collaboratively with student leaders and community members to facilitate a vibrant, welcoming and cohesive living environment. You will

  • Design and implement a health promotion and education programs that support personal development, life skills, and vibrant and inclusive community engagement.
  • Oversee the ResLife program whilst supporting leaders within the community in creating the best on campus experience.
  • Collaborate within a passionate team to support overall operations and create a united supportive approach to the student experience.
  • Serve as a role model, coach, and mentor to students, helping them grow as leaders and community members.

This position is a full time ongoing position HEW 6 Higher Education Level and will be based at Callaghan.

  1. A degree in Education, Social Work, Public Health, Social Sciences or other role-related discipline and relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise/broad knowledge in related fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  2. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.
  3. Demonstrated experience in creatively engaging young people in line with appropriate boundaries and risk mitigation strategies with an ability to effectively manage student welfare, wellbeing, safety and security issues.
  4. Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating projects and/or programs designed to support the academic, social and personal growth of residents.
  5. High level organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage several tasks simultaneously to meet competing deadlines, operating effectively under pressure.
  6. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace; including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.
