The Role
As a Student Systems Technical Specialist and subject matter expert you will play a key role in the transition to a new student management system. This is a rare opportunity to apply deep system knowledge to shape a future‑proof student platform.
In this role you will:
- Provide high-level system expertise and advice on the current usage, data structures and configuration to help inform a revitalised system.
- Use your experience with the current Student Information System (Peoplesoft Campus Solutions) to unpack, interpret, and inform future‑state design and vendor decisions.
- Support the design and implementation of a new, modern SaaS-based ecosystem.
- Ensure data integrity, security roles and integration capabilities are preserved while improving long‑term sustainability and scalability.
This 2-year fixed-term position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal land).
How will you inspire us?
You will have:
1. Experience working with large, complex Student Information Systems in a university environment, including knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (NUSTAR), including data structures, SQL, configuration, TCSI, Student Financials and customisations.
2. Experience analysing legacy systems and supporting transitions to modern SaaS platforms with a background in system administration, including user roles, permissions, and security models.
3. Experience coordinating input from multiple technical teams and ensuring alignment with architectural direction with a demonstrated capability to influence technical decisions and support cross‑functional project teams.
4. Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality technical analysis within agreed project timeframes with a proven track record of identifying risks, dependencies, and critical requirements that influence solution design.
5. Demonstrated experience working within university system administration and detailed understanding of compliance requirements such as the Tertiary Collection of Student Information (TCSI).

The remuneration for this position is Higher Education Worker Level 8 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
