Your Opportunity

This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting Linux/Unix technologies. A key part of this role will be to undertake maintenance and automation activities, encouraging continual service improvement of Linux/Unix operating systems. You will manage network design, deploy new initiatives, and maintain the integrity of the network and associated documentation. You will improve the functionality, automation, reliability, and performance of core applications and services. This is an opportunity to innovate new technologies and modernise the environment, transitioning from legacy systems to contemporary tech stacks. You will work within a dynamic team across multiple locations.

You'll Make an Impact By:

  • Providing support to various Unix/Linux systems and supporting applications within the business.
  • Performing support tasks such as patching, troubleshooting, and triaging problems via escalation from the operations center.
  • Providing solutions and services that strategically harness the power of Information Technology.
  • Supporting various internal groups, customers, and third-party providers.
  • Keeping up-to-date with technological advancements and suggesting improvements to systems.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of systems and procedures by identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Working to project timelines and providing timely reporting as required.
  • Highlighting non-conformance of solutions through the Risk and Issues forum.
  • Participating in an on-call roster.

What You’ll Bring: 

  • The ideal applicant will have experience in the IT and Telco related arenas, administering and supporting a multitude of internal and external facing systems. To succeed in this role, you will also have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT/Telecommunications.
  • Vendor certification (e.g., RHCE) is desirable.
  • Experience in Unix/Linux-based system administration (RedHat/Debian/Solaris).
  • Experience with TELCO/ISP applications (Web/Mail/DNS/RADIUS/DHCP/LDAP).
  • Experience in virtualisation, containerisation, storage, load balancing, and high availability.
  • Knowledge in configuration management, automation, and cloud orchestration is desirable.
  • Previous experience in OpenShift administration is highly regarded.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective technical analysis and troubleshooting skills.
