Your opportunity:
The WHS Coordinator is responsible for championing and monitoring Work Health and Safety (WHS) at TPG. The role is essential in creating a positive WHS culture, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and supporting the effective operation of TPG’s ISO 45001-certified WHS Management System (WHSMS).
The role requires close collaboration with the HSE Governance Manager, internal teams, and contractors to embed effective safe systems of work and drive strong safety outcomes.
The role will also support the TPG Safety System Technical Owner by acting as a System Administrator for the organisation’s digital WHS Management System, SafeT (powered by Donesafe).
You'll make impact by:
- Assist with the development and effective implementation of the organisation’s WHS strategy and WHSMS.
- Contribute to the development, review and communication of safe systems of work.
- Consult and work closely with business stream stakeholders across TPG Telecom to develop and implement effective safe systems of work to ensure the health and safety of TPG workers and others.
- Ensure the organisation’s WHSMS meets the requirements of ISO 45001. Actively participate in ISO 45001 surveillance and certification audits
- Coordinate pre-audit readiness activities with stakeholders and support close-out of ISO 45001 audit findings.
- Provide accurate and timely advice on the organisations WHSMS, WHS legislation, WHS standards and best practice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and implementation of effective systems to identify WHS hazards, risks and issues across TPG work activities.
- Review and assess contractor safety management systems to ensure they meet the requirements of the TPG Contractor WHS Governance Framework.
- Facilitate proportionate investigations with internal and external stakeholders based on the nature of the incident. Collaborate to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions in a timely manner to prevent reoccurrence.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in a similar role within a large complex organisation.
- Understanding of WHS legislation, WHS codes of practice, WHS standards and industry best practice across all Australian states and territories.
- WHS/HSE inspecting and auditing experience across a variety of work activities and work sites in telecommunications or construction.
- Minimum qualification: Cert IV in WHS.
- Necessary WHS qualifications/certification to attend construction sites to perform WHS inspections e.g. white card.
- Ability to effectively engage and communicate with stakeholders on WHS across all levels of an organisation, from upper management to field-based workers.
- Ability to demonstrate discretion, confidentiality and integrity.
- Full unrestricted drivers licence.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Experience acting as a Donesafe System Administrator or acting as a System Administrator for a similar digital WHS Management System.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems and experienced with data import/export and transformation e.g. MS Power BI, Domo, etc.
- Experience with implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 certification across a large complex organisation.
