About the position:
Dental O So Gentle, located on St George Terrace, is seeking an experienced and friendly Dental Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, working two days per week:
- Thursday: 8:15am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 8:15am – 1:45pm
You’ll be joining a welcoming, supportive, and long-standing team who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and customer service to everyone who walks through our doors.
In this role, you’ll report to the Practice Manager and work closely with our dental team, gaining exposure to ongoing learning opportunities that will support your professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist with patient management, including greeting patients, preparing them for procedures, and ensuring their comfort.
- Clinical Support: Prepare and sterilise dental instruments, assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, and maintain a clean and organised treatment area.
- Inventory Management: Monitor dental supplies levels, ensuring the treatment room is well-stocked and organised.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with post-operative care instructions and educate them about oral hygiene and preventive care.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and other staff to ensure a smooth workflow and positive patient experience.
- Compliance: Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, as well as regulatory requirements in the dental practice.

What do you need to succeed:
- Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred, but not essential
- A Cert III or IV in Dental Assisting is beneficial but not mandatory
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Capability to address patient concerns and resolve issues with professionalism and empathy
- Attention to detail
