About Us:
Toby started roasting in his Mum’s garage in Woolloomooloo nearly 30 years ago, and there’s a been a change or two along the way. These days, Toby has left the building, but we've welcomed three new cafes to the fold – Newstead in Brisbane, Fitzroy in Melbourne and an outpost in Singapore, not to mention our Chippendale Flagship cafe won best coffee shop in the world in 2025 (and top 5 in 2026). We’re exploding on the international scene too – with Japan and New York on the cards, and licensees and roasteries in nine countries, and counting. But the DNA hasn’t changed – we are leaders in specialty coffee for a reason.
Why join us as our Cafe Supervisor?
As our Cafe Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and delivering exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. You'll support day‑to‑day café operations by performing all Barista and FOH duties while assisting to lead the team in the Café Manager’s absence. As part of this, this role will include cash handling, float management and till reconciliation, assisting with coffee ordering and stock control processes, overseeing front and back of house staff for start, break and finishing times, coordinating cafe opening and closing, and carrying out preventative maintenance and quality control on equipment.
About you:
What you bring to the table is crucial to our team’s success. Your ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and stay composed under pressure helps keep operations running smoothly, even during peak periods. You might be a head barista ready to step into leadership, or in a similar role already and looking for a fresh challenge. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely hospitable, confident on the floor, and passionate about building strong relationships with our guests.
What’s on offer?
Joining our business means immersing yourself in the world of coffee and leveraging exciting learning opportunities across our Australia and New Zealand UCC business. You’ll enjoy coffee on tap and beans to take home, and a focus on your wellbeing, offering "recharge leave" - five additional days annually to rest and recharge.
This is a full‑time, permanent position (38 hours per week) worked across five days at our Newstead Flagship Cafe.
