The Opportunity:

We run a great lifestyle and family friendly roster. Casual roles will likely transition into permanent roles. All roles will enjoy some weekends off and no late nights. All candidates should ideally be available to work across a range of shifts with start times ranging between 7am and 2 pm and finish times ranging from 1 pm and 7pm.

About the position :

Your role at The Banyans is one in which you are provided a beautifully appointed kitchen to create amazing food that is highly nutritious and plays an integral part in the care of our guests. Your input will be encouraged and welcomed, you will enjoy autonomy and creative freedom using great ingredients from premium suppliers and your skills, experience and personal attributes will be valued and respected. All Chefs are responsible for preparing high quality nutritious meals accommodating dietary requirements, ensuring stock rotation, general cleaning of the kitchen area and equipment and maintaining exceptional hygiene and organisation standards at all times

Our Chefs regularly interact directly with guests during their stay and also work collaboratively with team members from other departments including wellness support coaches, dietetics, psychologists, nurses and psychiatrists in supporting our guests nutritional needs so it is imperative that successful applicants have impeccable interpersonal skills, be empathetic and compassionate and display sound boundary setting.

 

A successful applicant will possess the following knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • Trade qualification as a Chef with 5 years post apprenticeship experience displaying excellent skills is essential
  • Experience within a health and wellness facility and/or within an exclusive high end accommodation establishment would be highly regarded but not essential
  • A passion for imaginative and highly nutritious food presented beautifully
  • Some knowledge of nutrition, vegan & vegetarian cooking, dietary intolerances, allergies and whole food cooking will be highly regarded but not essential. A willingness to learn about these styles and of cooking and dietary requirements on the job is essential
  • Sound knowledge and firm commitment to follow our HACCP based food safety procedures and WHS procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to interact compassionately and collaboratively with people is a must
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Basic but sound understanding of Microsoft Office including Outlook
  • Punctual and very reliable.
  • The property is situated in a stunning location in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, approx. 30kms from the CBD so you must have your own reliable transport as the there is no public transport available
  • Full Australian work rights
  • A blue card for Working With Children or be willing to obtain one is essential
  • CPR and First Aid Certificates or be willing to obtain one is essential.

 Preferred candidates will need to be able to provide contact details for 2 recent and credible referees that can verify that they meet the above requirements
