Menzies Bar & Bistro

Shell House - Full-Time

About Us

Tucked inside one of the city's most iconic buildings, Menzies Bar & Bistro is where great food, thoughtfully chosen wine, and genuine hospitality come together. Our team is friendly, professional, and, above all, passionate about what they do. We don't just serve great food and drink; we create experiences guests want to come back for.

We're looking for someone who gets it. Someone who lights up a room, knows their way around a wine list, and takes real pride in delivering exceptional service every single shift.

About the Role

As Assistant Venue Manager, you'll work alongside our management team to lead service on the floor, mentor and support the team, and help maintain the standard of hospitality Menzies is known for. You'll be hands-on, engaging with guests, running a tight and welcoming floor, and making sure every table gets the Menzies experience, whether it's a quick lunch or a long, leisurely evening.

This is a role for someone who wants to grow into full venue leadership, and who sees hospitality as a craft, not just a job.

What You'll Bring

  • Solid wine knowledge: you're confident guiding guests through a wine list, making thoughtful recommendations, and talking through pairings with genuine enthusiasm.
  • A friendly, engaging personality: you build rapport with guests and team members alike, and people naturally want to be around you.
  • A real passion for hospitality: food, beverage, and service aren't just skills to you, they're something you love talking about and doing well.
  • Leadership presence: you can support, coach, and energise a team, especially when service gets busy.
  • Professionalism: you hold yourself and your team to a high standard, every shift.
  • Team fit: you're looking for a workplace where the team is close-knit, supportive, and genuinely enjoys coming to work.

Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within hospitality is highly regarded, but what matters most to us is attitude, enthusiasm, and a genuine love of great service.

Why Menzies?

  • Join a team that's friendly, professional, and passionate about what they do
  • Work in one of the city's most iconic venues
  • Opportunities for growth into venue leadership
  • A workplace culture built on mutual respect and support for one another
  • The chance to develop your wine and hospitality knowledge alongside people who care as much as you do
