We're looking for an experienced Venue Manager to lead our team and help shape the next chapter of this iconic venue.

About the Role

Working closely with the General Manager and the Sommelier team, the Venue Manager will lead The Wine Bar team across high-volume floor operations, ensuring every guest, from a fast-turnaround corporate lunch to a large-scale wine events, receives service that matches the calibre of our wine program and our address.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on pressure, knows how to run a premium venue at scale, and can build a team culture people genuinely want to be part of.

Key Responsibilities

Service & Operation Excellence

  • Lead high-volume floor operations across the indoor dining room, counter seating, and the expansive outdoor plaza.
  • Maintain premium service standards that align with a luxury, design-forward Sydney CBD landmark.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sommelier team to ensure seamless execution of the globally-focused, award-winning wine program.
  • Manage guest flow and VIP reservations using integrated premium booking systems.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor a high-performing front-of-house team, including bartenders, waitstaff, and hosts.
  • Foster wine and beverage knowledge among staff so they can confidently upsell and narrate the complex wine list.
  • Roster efficiently to accommodate fluctuating corporate crowds, peak mid-week trade, and large-scale food and wine events.

Event & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate large-scale food and wine events alongside internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a key point of contact for corporate clients, event partners, and VIP guests.

People Management

  • Drive a strong, positive team culture that supports efficiency and staff retention.
  • Manage performance, development, and day-to-day people matters across the front-of-house team.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Composure under pressure: proven ability to thrive during heavy corporate happy hours and fast-turnaround lunch trade.
  • Financial acumen: a track record managing labour cost control, stock variation, and overall venue profitability.
  • Communication: poised and articulate, equally comfortable engaging with corporate executives, international tourists, and wine industry professionals.
  • People management: a natural leader who drives efficiency while building a strong, positive team culture.
  • Wine and beverage knowledge: genuine familiarity with wine service and confidence supporting a sommelier-led program.
