About the role

·        Join an interdisciplinary team of experts to build cutting edge solutions that assist our customers better understand and optimise their data, help them keep performance in check and solve their data challenges

·        Champion the approach and delivery of data solutions (whether working with existing on-premises solutions or helping the customer strategically and seamlessly move to the cloud) with the support of their peers

·        Work within a team of data experts, while also engaging cross-functionally with others in the squad to enable customer delivery

Our customers regularly provide us with new and unique challenges which often require an innovative solution. You'll need to be able to adapt to a wide range of technologies in this role, but we'll support you every step of the way. 

About you

To truly thrive in this role, you'll:

·        be comfortable with modern cloud data architectures for Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (or both!)

·        have experience leading small technical teams and working solo to deliver projects in complex environments

·        have experience working in consulting environments - defining and working through problems with customers and engaging/influencing/negotiating with stakeholders at all levels

·        have experience in building either data engineering solutions (modern data warehouse architectures), databases, or data visualisation solutions

·        have experience delivering data projects using agile methodologies

·        be proficient in developing, tuning and management of a mainstream RDBMS like SQL Server, MySQL or Postgres

·        be proficient in deploying, developing and tuning a PaaS DBMS like Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, or Azure SQL Database

·        be proficient in developing data visualisations using Power BI, Amazon Quicksight or Tableau

·        be proficient in at least one of Bash, PowerShell or another shell scripting language

·        be proficient in at least one of Python or Scala

·        be proficient in DevOps, Git and infrastructure-as-code for data platforms

·        have strong written and verbal communication skills – you'll be in a team architecting the data platforms for our customers

·        have an understanding of ethical standards around data & responsible use of data

You might also have:

·        An interest in Data Governance and the systems that support this such as Data Catalogs, Master Data Management, and Data Quality solutions

·        Certifications (Microsoft or AWS) in data and cloud platforms related subjects

·        A desire and/or affinity to contribute to community - strong networks within Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and/or data community groups are a bonus

·        The ability to work closely with sales teams on technical pre-sales activities, including meeting with customers, working through business problems and requirements, architecting starting solutions, estimating effort and writing statements of work, proposals and tender responses

We don’t expect you to excel at everything, but we’ll be looking for people with a breadth of experience and a strong learning mindset.
