What’s the opportunity?
As a Cloud Engineer at Telstra Health, you’ll play a key role in building, integrating, and managing our cloud platforms. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to improve how we deliver through automation, continuous integration, and secure cloud hosting.
In this Melbourne based, hybrid role you’ll work on making sure our cloud environments are secure, scalable, and reliable. You’ll also help shape the policies and guidelines that enable teams to use cloud technology safely and effectively.
About the role:
- Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable cloud solutions.
- Support senior engineers in solving complex cloud challenges.
- Work with cross functional teams to align architecture with business needs.
- Deliver services across Azure and AWS (VMs, storage, databases, networking, PaaS).
- Monitor environments, address performance and security issues, and automate deployments.
- Support cloud applications and services to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
- Follow governance frameworks and security policies.
- Stay across cloud technology trends and suggest improvements.
- Support adoption strategies and contribute to cost optimisation through FinOps reviews.
- Provide first-level after-hours support when required, escalating issues as needed.
About you:
- Experience as a Junior to Mid-Level Cloud Engineer, ideally within enterprise or health environments
- Proven hands-on experience with cloud platforms, with Microsoft Azure (preferred) or AWS.
- Strong understanding of cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and practical experience with VMs, storage, databases, networking, and PaaS
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell preferred; Python or Bash also welcome)
- Hands on experience with Terraform and Ansible
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
- Knowledge of networking (VPCs, subnets, load balancers, DNS) and cloud security best practices
- Exposure to containerisation (Kubernetes preferred; Docker a plus)
- Experience with monitoring and logging (Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch)
- Experience with Microsoft Intune (essential) and Genesys Cloud (desirable)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field
- Relevant Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications (e.g., Administrator Associate, DevOps Engineer)
- Australian Citizenship is essential; NV1 clearance will be highly regarded
