What’s the opportunity?
The Data Analyst role is responsible for extracting, processing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making and improve digital health solutions.
This role supports the organisation's mission by ensuring that data is accurately analysed and presented to enhance overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.
About the role:
Data Analysis, Modelling and Design
Applying mathematics and predictive modelling techniques to gain insights, predict behaviours and generate value from data and developing models and diagrams to represent and communicate data requirements and data assets, the Data Analyst will:
- Collect, clean, and organise large datasets from various sources, ensuring data accuracy and consistency for effective analysis.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of data used in analyses and reports.
- Conduct statistical analysis and modelling to support business initiatives and solve complex problems using data-driven approaches.
- Utilise visualisation tools, in particular Power BI and Tableau to design, develop, and maintain dashboards/visualisations that effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data analysis and visualisation, integrating new tools and techniques into workflows.
- Transforming raw data into actionable strategies that enhance system performance across digital health solutions.
Data Entry and Record Keeping
Supporting reliable decision-making and compliance through ensuring integrity and accessibility of data, the Data Analyst will:
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualisations to effectively communicate data findings and support business objectives.
- Analyse and interpret data to generate forecasts, projections, and recommendations that guide business strategy and operational improvements.
- Document data analysis processes, methodologies, and findings to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Collaboration and Team Support
Working as part of the wider Telstra Health team to share knowledge, solve problems collectively, and achieve common goals, the Data Analyst will:
- Provide training and support to team members on data analysis tools and techniques, promoting a data-driven culture within the organisation.
- Facilitate understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas, and facts using graphical representations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements, delivering tailored analysis and reporting solutions.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in data analysis or data visualisation tools (e.g., Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist).
- Additional coursework or training in statistical analysis, data management, or programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in analysing and interpreting data, with a strong background in using data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or data visualisation software.
- Proven ability to develop and present insightful reports and dashboards that support business decision-making.
- Familiarity with data quality management and data governance principles to ensure accurate and reliable data.
