Telstra Health offers software applications, and platforms that connect health information, patients and providers. We offer our solutions to the pharmacy, public and private hospital, primary care, diagnostic, Indigenous health, and aged, disability and community care sectors in Australia, as well as to Government and other health funders. 

Telstra Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a team leading the delivery of exciting new connected health solutions. This role will deliver solutions for seamless information exchange between Telstra Health and the healthcare ecosystem. 

This role is instrumental in delivering the Telstra Health mission through planning, design and development of software applications and platforms that connect health information, patients and providers.  

 Please note this is a 12 month fixed term opportunity.


What can I expect? 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Produce secure, high performance, maintainable code using industry best practices and ensure that developed software meets the business aims of the company and its customers. 
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle from the concept state through to release. Demonstrate ability to work within an agile software development framework, working closely with Developers, Testers, and Business Analysts/Product Owners to ensure development quality is maintained at the highest standard.  
  • Contribute to standards, conventions, processes, document templates and frameworks relating to platform UI/UX e.g. wireframe document templates, design briefs etc. 
  • Provide technical solutions in terms of code, design and industry best practices to ensure a quality product is developed and adequately tested against defined criteria. 
  • Development of new functionality as well as refactoring, troubleshooting, and addressing issues/defects found. 
  • Ensure that the systems developed have appropriate logging and error reporting, so that they can be monitored in production. 
  • Foster a positive and productive team dynamic across multiple Business Unit teams within Telstra Health and promote collaboration across Business Units, driving quality-led best practices within teams. 
  • Documentation and Knowledge Management: Create and maintain documentation, foster a culture of knowledge sharing by documenting best practices, troubleshooting guides, and lessons learned. 
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with development, operations, and other cross-functional teams to promote knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to align on goals, priorities, and progress.


About you: 

Education & Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary qualification in IT Information Technology preferred 

Skills & Experience: 

  • 8+ years’ experience in software development, including exposure to all facets of the SDLC 
  • C# .Net software development experience (full stack) 
  • Clear understanding and experience of working in Agile Software development framework specially particularly TDD / BDD 
  • Development testing knowledge - Unit testing using available frameworks such as NUnit  
  • Proficient in use of source control system, ideally GIT 
  • Any cloud experience desirable - Azure / AWS 
  • Experience in .Net (+ .NET Core), ASP.NET, SQL, Web API would be desirable.  

   Highly Desirable: 

   Healthcare industry background is highly desirable, including: 

  • Proficiency in healthcare data exchange standards such as HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and other relevant protocols. 
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data exchange protocols and interoperability. 
  • Experience in integration work, preferably on platforms like Smile CDR and Rhapsody
