What’s the opportunity?
The Senior Data Analyst plays a critical role in shaping Telstra Health’s vision of improved and connected digital health solutions by transforming data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. By leveraging advanced analytical skills and data tools, the Senior Data Analyst helps enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, directly contributing to the delivery of more integrated and efficient digital health solutions to the community. This role ensures that data is not only informative but instrumental in advancing the quality and connectivity of digital health services.
About the role:
Data Management and Analysis
Responsible for ensuring data integrity while transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency and support strategic initiatives, the Senior Data Analyst will:
- Analyse complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions and strategies, utilising statistical techniques and advanced analytics tools to deliver clear and actionable reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored analytical solutions that address specific business challenges, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and enhancing decision-making processes.
- Apply mathematics, statistics, data mining and predictive modelling techniques to gain insights, predict behaviours and generate value from data.
- Independently analyse and produce high quality analysis by self-reviewing work and adhering to QA processes
- Develop models and diagrams to represent and communicate data requirements and data assets.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualisations that communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics, ensuring that stakeholders have access to real-time data for informed decision-making and performance tracking.
- Utilise visualisation tools, in particular Power BI and Tableau to design, develop, and maintain dashboards/visualisations that effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders.
- Design and execute data collection processes, ensuring data integrity and accuracy through rigorous testing and validation methods, which supports reliable analysis and the overall quality of insights provided to the organisation.
- Guide and train junior data analysts to produce high quality analysis through review
Analytical Reporting
The Senior Data Analyst has a crucial role in providing data-driven insights that inform decision-making and strategy development. Interpreting complex data to identify trends, measure performance, and highlight areas for improvement, the Senior Data Analyst will:
- Present analytical findings to senior management and key internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating complex data insights in a clear and concise manner, and providing actionable recommendations based on data analysis.
- Facilitate increased organisational understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas, and facts using graphical representations.
Continuous Improvement
Supporting Telstra Health to adapt to evolving needs, increase productivity, and maintain competitive advantage, the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for:
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Implementing best practices and innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance overall data management efficiency.
People Leadership and Support
Ensuring that team members feel valued and supported, the Senior Data Analyst will participate in:
- Guiding, mentoring, and empowering individuals to achieve their full potential while contributing to Telstra Health’s strategic objectives.
- Fostering a positive work environment through clear communication, trust, and collaboration.
- Providing ongoing support through coaching, feedback, and development opportunities, ensuring a high standard of analytical output.
Technical Expertise
Using technical expertise to drive informed, evidence-based decisions that align with organisational objectives, the Senior data Analyst is required to:
- Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and methodologies related to data analysis, ensuring that the organisation leverages cutting-edge techniques and technologies to enhance analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with IT and data management teams to ensure proper data architecture and infrastructure, contributing to the overall data strategy and ensuring seamless access to data across the organisation.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses as needed to support business initiatives, responding quickly to urgent data requests and providing insights that drive immediate business decisions.
Information Management and Security
To ensure that sensitive data is both effectively managed and safeguarded, enabling secure and reliable operations, the Senior Data Analyst will coordinate:
- Planning, implementing and controlling the full life cycle management of digitally organised information and records.
- Defining and operating a framework of security controls and security management strategies.
- Overseeing risk mitigation and risk management procedures as they pertain to information and data management within the organisation.
About you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Econometrics Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Advanced certifications in data analysis (e.g., Google Data Analytics, Certified Analytics Professional).
- Continuous professional development in data analysis tools and methodologies
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar data analysis or related role, demonstrating proficiency in data and statistical analysis and data visualisation tools.
- At least 5 years SQL experience to conduct analysis
- An advanced knowledge of SQL and another programming language to conduct analysis
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven insights that influence business strategies.
- A proven track record of crafting analysis into well written and persuasive content to stakeholders with varying levels of data literacy
- Experience with presenting findings to external audiences
- Familiarity with data governance and management principles, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations..
