TBWA - Project Director

We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Director to join our growing Melbourne agency!

Project Management is the centre of the production world within the agency, partnering with producers and acting as the conduit for information to reach the client. As a Project Director you will:

  • Have a portfolio of clients that you are responsible for overseeing the production phase of all their campaigns.
  • Work closely with Business Management to forecast and scope incoming projects for your client portfolio.
  • The client expert and ‘go to’ person for the Project Managers or Project Directors working on campaigns/ projects for clients within your portfolio.
  • Forecasting Project resource with HOPM on upcoming projects for your portfolio.
  • Responsible for building relationships with clients and educating them on Project Management and Production processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our services and work with your fellow Project Directors to implement and manage new agency processes.
  • Know and understand your client’s business objectives and promote a collaborative spirit when working with them. 
  • Help guide and develop Project Managers to hone their skills in project management and how to provide our clients with an 'above and beyond' experience.
  • Leads and drives the team to provide excellent project management by managing the delivery of the strategy through creative outputs.
  • Engages the right people in the business, at the right time to develop integrated campaigns.
  • Demonstrates excellent financial management skills ensuring profitability across each project and more broadly across the entire account.

In addition .. day to day responsibilities:

  • Work on projects across TBWA\Melbourne and TBWA\Adelaide on all clients within the agency portfolio.
  • Successful delivery of world class creative. From guiding the clients directly through projects (on shoots, in meetings) to being the person in the agency that people come to when they have a question on the implementation of a project.
  • Work on integrated campaigns across channels such as TV, radio, press, OOH, digital and social.
  • Trusted creator by both client and agency as well as the central point of contact for all parties on any project.
  • Responsible for leading projects through the agency to take campaigns to market on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for campaign timings and budgets as well as retrospectives and campaign overviews.
  • Working in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, JIRA and Smartsheets to ensure all projects run seamlessly. 

Job Functions:

  • Deliver campaigns on time and on budget, constantly monitoring the work, and ensuring client’s expectations are managed.
  • Deliver high standards of client satisfaction across client groupings; measuring this through campaign retrospectives and TRRs. 


  • Ensure you have oversight over the Project Managers working across your client portfolio. Give them autonomy in running the campaign but also provide feedback on their progress. 
  • Manage, coach and mentor new team members, ensuring they are supported in their roles.
  • Provide feedback to the Head of Project Management for 360 reviews of Project Managers.
  • Take ownership of a high standard of delivery for your client portfolio and the campaigns you work on.

 Client Relationships:

  • Build rapport with clients to develop a strong working relationship.
  • Continuously provide updated information regarding status of work to manage expectations.
  • Always look for opportunities (big or small) to go ‘above and beyond’ for the client. 


  • Ensure agency processes are maintained to deliver great work in a smooth and efficient manner.
  • Work closely with Head of Project Management to ensure the right mix of people to match the pipeline of work.
  • Ensure all deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Timely distribution of estimates, invoices and monthly JDR’s, WIPS and contact reports. 
  • Knowledge of relevant advertising standards and regulations affecting our creative output across different media for clients, and knowledge of historic relationships with regulatory bodies.
