Reporting to the Legal Counsel based in Singapore, the team has a regional scope covering the expanding business needs of the Tapestry brands and supply chain operations in South East Asia, Oceania and India. In support of the legal needs of the various business units and teams of the relevant jurisdictions, the ideal candidate will be a versatile and generalist lawyer whose scope of duties will include the below.

The successful individual will leverage their legal proficiency to...

 

  • Draft, review, negotiate and administer a host of agreements, with a specific focus on store leases and licenses, distribution agreements, marketing, construction and procurement contracts
  • Provide legal advice and/or support to all business units and corporate functions including the business development, retail teams and HR departments of the various jurisdictions
  • Monitor and keep abreast with legal and regulatory developments in the relevant jurisdictions and ensure compliance with applicable laws, including without limitation, privacy laws and regulations
  • Manage all queries and correspondences between Tapestry and governmental authorities
  • Assisting the Intellectual Property team on intellectual property and brand protection matters, including the enforcement of Tapestry’s intellectual property rights on an ad hoc basis
  • Collaborate with Tapestry HQ in the implementation and roll-out of global plans, programs and policies for South East Asia and Oceania
  • Take the lead in instructing and supervising company secretaries of the various Tapestry group entities
  • Engagement and management of external counsel on a case by case basis
  • Management of litigation, disputes and complaints
  • Maintain the contract database for the region

 

The accomplished individual will possess...

 

  • Law degree from a commonwealth country and called to the Singapore bar
  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in corporate / commercial law, preferably gained in both a law firm and in the legal department of a multinational company. Experience with corporate transactional work and regional work within the retail/FMCG industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations and confidence in advising on privacy matters and the collection, process and use of consumer data
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and drafting skills with an eye for detail
  • Fluent in spoken and written English with good communication and interpersonal skills, adept at interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Chinese or Bahasa Melayu would be an advantage
  • Good business acumen and commercially savvy, demonstrating sound risk assessment capabilities and ability to articulate proposals clearly, balancing the requirement for technical expertise and the bigger commercial picture
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Strong organizational adaptation and change management skills
  • Team player with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues from different backgrounds, functions and cultures
