Arts Queensland has a genuine occupational requirement for the role to be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, with the position supporting First Nations-led policy development and investment strategy as part of the Queensland Government 10-year vision in Creative Together 2020-2030.

It is a genuine occupational requirement for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal person or Torres Strait Islander person, as permitted by and arguable under, Sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

To allow the panel to confirm that you are eligible to be considered for the Indigenous Identified role, the panel may either:

  • accept your written assertion that you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; or
  • obtain from you, as part of your formal application, documentary evidence attesting to your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. 

This role will be instrumental in the development, implementation and project management of departmental and whole of government programs and strategies to elevate First Nations arts in Queensland and realise the 10-year vision as outlined in Creative Together 2020-2030.

With a focus on partnership and collaboration, the role will be responsible for the identification and development of key initiatives and investment programs that will work to build and strengthen the First Nations arts sector in the state and maximise the economic, social and cultural benefits of First Nations arts in Queensland.

The role also provides policy support and advice to inform the work of Arts Queensland's First Nations Arts and Cultures Panel, which has been established to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' voices in shaping arts and cultural strategy, policy and investment decisions.
