Office of the Health Ombudsman - Director, Special Counsel - SO

Responsibilities of the role:

• Provide expert legal advice and litigation services in relation to the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 including professional disciplinary matters and immediate action.
• Undertake litigation in disciplinary proceedings before QCAT including the drafting of referrals, advising on evidence, drafting submissions, and preparing matters for hearing.
• Assist with the review of briefs of evidence submitted by legal officers and provide expert technical advice to ensure successful prosecution of disciplinary referrals and immediate action matters.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships and strategic networks with internal and external stakeholders including with the National Boards and AHPRA.
• Actively support and promote a culture of continuous improvement and business excellence, recognising achievement and innovation.
• Other projects and activities in relation to the legal services function as directed.
