Responsibilities of the role:
- Investigate high risk and sensitive practitioner conduct and/or performance complaints effectively and efficiently, in line with organisational policies and procedures to ensure investigations are completed within 12 months.
- Analyse complex factual and/or clinical performance issues and apply relevant standards of clinical practice, codes of conduct and legal frameworks.
- Use best practice investigation planning methodologies to ensure all available evidence is identified and sourced in an appropriate manner and appropriately documented in accordance with organisational policy.
- Prepare and submit high quality investigation reports with recommendations regarding the prosecution of health service providers.
- Work collaboratively with representatives within the organisation to establish strategic stakeholder management with key officers within the wider healthcare setting.
- Work collaboratively with staff within the organisation to achieve timely identification and particularisation of risk and brief the Health Ombudsman in respect to potential high-risk matters.
- Assist the Principal Investigations Officer in the implementation of systems and processes, and mentor and coach staff to ensure effective case management and development of staff skills.
Qualifications/professional registration/other requirements
- A relevant degree in health or law and/or an investigations related field is considered desirable but is not a requirement.
- A current driver's licence is desirable.
- Overnight travel on a needs basis is a requirement of the position
