About the role

Join Sydney Water’s Digital team and use your expertise in Linux/Unix to ensure efficient and effective technology delivery across all Sydney Water sites. This role is a BAU operational role, providing support to a range of Sydney Water systems and applications, as well as having scope for involvement in new initiatives.

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver, operate, and implement infrastructure platform services across all sites ensuring service levels, availability, capacity and resilience.
  • Collaborate with all Digital Services teams and relevant frameworks to provide information on infrastructure platform services supporting delivery, development, and continuous improvement of future foundation services.
  • Work with external service providers to operate and implement the day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of all infrastructure platform systems and services, informing the functional lead of any risks, issues and performance impacts.
  • Provide information on operational performance metrics and dashboards for all Sydney Water digital infrastructure platform foundation services.
  • Be expected to provide some out-of-hours support to patching activities and projects.

About you

You will have prior experience with Linux/Unix administration, familiarity with the RedHat product suite (Satellite, Ansible, Puppet), Solaris (SPARC hardware, LDoms, Zones, ZFS), knowledge of scripting languages (PERL, Shell), and experience with virtualisation tools (VMWare, HyperV).

An excellent communicator, you are adept in engaging with a variety of both technical and non-technical stakeholders to determine issues and develop solutions, including managing stakeholder expectations using plain language.

  • Tertiary degree in Technology or Business, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Red Hat and Solaris administration.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading and managing design/build teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and implement digital technologies across several geographical locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver, implement and operate new technology solutions.
